Signal Strength on Galaxy Note and O2

Hi All,

Has anyone experienced poor signal coverage around the North Notts/South Yorks area in particular or any area for that matter?  Over the past couple of months the signal strength on my O2 Galaxy Note appears to be slowly getting worse with the result that for long periods I get the no signal message.  I can't see how this can be O2 related (its not in their interest) but I wonder if any other user has noticed a drop in performance while running ICS?  I was (and did) believe I was getting longer battery life but it does appear to discharge more quickly now. Anyone got any thoughts?

Have you checked on the signal coverage link to see if there are any issues in your area?

Any updates app wise that you can think off or apps you have added that may coincide with the issues?

Battery will drain faster if the phone is constantly searching for a signal.

I accept that we don't live in a good coverage area but this seems to be beyond our home area and places that other o2 colleagues live in are OK for them but not too bright for me.  I haven't added any new apps lately and I always ensure an app is properly closed when I've finished.  On average the Note goes down in 24 hrs with only being on standby and no useage.

M15 - I guess you are right if the phone is constantly searching for a network that will flatten the battery quicker.

If other O2 customers are getting a decent signal you should too so it maybe a problem with your phone.

signal is rubbish at home (including Voda, 3 and Orange) but phone signal is still rubbish in other areas where other O2 users (or other networks) are fine which leads me to think it maybe isn't altogether an O2 issue.

I've come to the same conclusion hence my asking if anyone else has suffered from poor (or deteriorating signal performance

I'd agree that ICS was slightly less good than GB for RxLev processing but JB is slightly better. It shouldn't really deteriorate though - It will be either good or bad from the outset. A new sim is easy enough to try, just go into a store and get them to give you a new one and add your account to it. If no improvement speak to Samsung.
