S4 says low on disc space? ??

Anonymous
Not applicable
My S4 which is a year old has recently started showing a warning message saying it is low on disc space.

I have 16gb on the device and a 16gb memory card. The device is showing over 7gb available and the memory card over 3gb available.

Have looked to move the few non system apps to the sd card but hardly any of them offer this option. Cache is cleared daily. Of course Samsung and Google force a load of totally useless apps on you bit the device is sim free so no o2 bloatWare.

Any ideas? ??

You shouldn't ever see this message on an S4 as the storage isn't partitioned like they used to be.
It's either a false alarm or faulty.

Hi Nick.

Something sounds amiss from what you say.

Have you tried the reset option to remove old files.

Long story BoB but basically o2 Social Media told me that my device had to go back to o2 repairs for another issue. I didn't want it to go but they insisted. @Toby is aware of this.

They claim to have "repaired" the device but won't tell me what they did.

Have had issues with the battery usage since it came back with "Internet" on odd days using between 50 and 60% of my battery.

So I did a full factory data reset last week. Now I am getting this message typically once every day or two.

Evening Rich

I did a Google search at the weekend and it appears others have similar issues.

The idea of moving apps to the sd card was one solution.

I also got round to clearing out my gmail and deleted 4000 emails leaving about 300 left.

In application manager my running apps average between 700 and 1000mb in use leaving between 800 and 500mb approx free

I can only guess at a software bug then as the partitioning issue was resolved with either ICS or the first JB (It's been so long ago now I can't remember).
It was always in reference to phone storage though and not removable sd cards.

Looking at the figures you are reporting above you are not low on space at all.

Gggrrrrrrrrrr bloomin o2 repairs. I told o2 social media I didn't want it to go there but they absolutely insisted.

When it came back all that came with it was a poor quality photocopy saying that "xxxx" had repaired my phone but no indication at all what they have done and when I asked they couldn't (or wouldn't) tell me.

I think they just flashed the phone then sent it back cos nothing has improved and now two new faults.

Grrrrrrrrr 👎😈👎

I'm convinced they only re-flash 90% of the time.....
