Hi,
The battery may be shot or the software corrupted.
I would suggest you seek assistance directly from Samsung.

I would begin by uninstalling any recent apps you have downloaded that possibly coincide with the problem. A factory reset would have removed all apps that you added. Did you try using the phone before restoring your apps and did the problem persist? If so, it could well be a hardware problem and it would probably need to go for repair/replacement.

Would you suggest going through Samsung rather than o2?
Only asking as when my old s2 started having issues o2 sent it for repair and all that came back was 'factory reset and software update'. I have already done both of them and I guess if it is a fault with the phone then the manufacturer would be the best point of call.
Popping down to the o2 shop at lunch to see what 'the guru' says.

Definitely go through Samsung.

To be quite frank, I would go with Samsung directly. I'm afraid to say that O2's repairers don't have a very good reputation on here, although to be fair, we only hear the bad experiences.

I have had my S4 since last July and recently did the auto update on the software
My battery is now rubbish and then it keeps turning itself off - no warning though, not even the blue O2 screen like when you switch it off, so you dont notice immediatelyw hen it has switched off.
The live chat help was no use at all
I can't afford to be without my phone for minimum of 4 days while they have a look at it
They advised to get a loaner from my local O2 shop, which last time I tried on my my old handset issue, took me 3 different shops only to be offered some battered old brick without internet access (key for my job) and pay a deposit of £25 for the pleasure?
I am presuming I too should go direct to Samsung, as its under a year old and should be covered by manufacturer warranty?
Did anyone get to the cause of this? The only chnage on mine was that last software update - no new apps or anything.
Thanks
QB

You are better dealing directle with Samsung for warranty repairs.
However, have you done a factory reset after the update? We always recommend this to get rid of any conflicts with the software.
