Missing Photos

I have only had my Samsung Galaxy S4 for a month and I really am not fully up to speed with it however I had a few videos and pictures within the Gallery (which is the default). When I went in to show a friend a picture last night they were no longer there and my gallery is empty? I have not deleted anything and all other pics from watsapp and Instagram are still there in separate folders. I have never had this happen with my previous Samsung S2 and I am now panicking because I have no idea where they are. Can anyone help please?

Many thanks

Ali

Hi there,

Might be a good idea to check that the Gallery app is still set to show you photographs stored in your device, although odd why it may have changed.  I have an S2 running 4.1.2 so the option(s) might be slightly different, but...

Open Gallery app

Press Menu button

Click on View by

Select 'Content in device' or 'All content'

If that isn't successful then perhaps use the My Files app (or another file manager) to see what's still stored (or not) in the file system.  In the root of my S2 there's a folder called DCIM and then Camera which contains photos I've taken.

Fingers crossed!

Jonty.

Hi Alifontella.

Were these pictures on your phone memory or on a memory card?

Were they taken on the S4 or on another phone, if so which one?

Have you tried turning your phone off and then back on again?

Yes I tried that, I also triedto take a picture to bring them up but it now shows 3 pictures in the Gallery.

I'm not even sure you can do this, but...

You haven't got a Dropbox account or anything synced with the phone that has uploaded the photos to the storage and then automatically deleted them from the phone? Just a thought!

Hi, no I have not set this up at all. I actually have no clue why they have disappeared, they were there in the morning and when I went in early evening the gallery was empty. Clueless! :o/ Thank you though.

It's always good to blame things on the kids - perks of parenting!

Sorry couldn't help.
