I can't get onto my new 5G SIM all I get is emergency calls

I have just gone onto 5g on an Android phone after being told my phone would accept 5g by one of your guros. My phone is HUAWEI P20 LITE. All i can get at present is emergency calls, can you solve this problem please. [Edit: topic title clarified]
