Having trouble getting O2 to accept my payment online. Get as far as "you will be redirected to your bank within 10 seconds or click here" and it hangs up. I know O2 doesn't need the money but is this a common problem or do they just like me!

The payment methods are listed here:
If they don't work you'll need to phone O2 and pay, it's far easier to use a direct debit.
Should you be too late they will charge a re-connection fee and possibly demand the entire remainder of the contract.
