Just seen it on the news. I know he had a cardiac arrest a few days ago and was hoping he would recover. Sadly not. He was only 61.

I'm quite emotional and sad about this. There are a few of us on here who are football fanatics and no matter which team you support or indeed if you just enjoy the game, the loss of a football legend at a ridiculously early age is terrible. This was a man who lived and breathed football as a player, a trainer, a manager and a pundit. He had the honour of captaining every team he played for including his country. He was also a thoroughly modest, nice guy and a true gentleman. Thanks for everything you gave to me as a fan Ray. RIP 😕

This kind of news just puts everything into perspective. They say life's too short and in Ray's case, cruelly so.
