The Antarctic ozone hole, which was expected to reduce in size swiftly when manmade chlorine emissions were outlawed 27 years ago, is stubbornly remaining the size of North America, new data from Nasa suggests.

The ozone depletion data has been of a concern since the late 1970s

http://www.antarctica.ac.uk/press/journalists/resources/science/ozone.php

As the data collection didn't begin until 1957, it's not known exactly when any significant depletion started. It is not known if there has always been a "hole" of some size. The "hole" also changes in size during the year.

It follows that it's not known, and probably it cannot be calculated, if the "hole" will ever repair or even grow permanently smaller.

Chlorofluorcarbons were just part of the problem and, as they were man-made, they were the easiest to control.

Problem is we,the common people, are powerless to make a significant difference. We can do our bit but it's governments that need to get together, united, to combat this serious threat that will affect the children of our children. This is not only a possibility but a certainty that there will be a drastic irreversible change to the world as we know it. We are already seeing the climatic changes and I'm not too sure how we can repair the damage as things stand.

We can't......but the world governments can't say that.

Like any living thing, it's getting old, cells are not being replaced.....you can guess the rest.

And on that wrist-slitting note.....let's all have a beer in Wanty's Cheers
