Sony's PlayStation hit by hack attack

Reporters, Please learn the difference between hacking and ddos attacks.

Always playstation attacks in the news, yet last week xbox live and steam were taken offline by lizard turds.

Can you please give a primary school description of the difference @viridis ?

I don't really know how it works

Hacking would mean bypassing security measures to gain control of a site/network/server

Ddos is sending so much crap down the network stream,(thousands of login attempts per second etc) the security measures kick in and deny service from the network

I.e ddos attacks do nothing more than annoy, information is safe, no accountso compromised, it all just goes offline until the servers are reset.
