BT apologises for broadband outage.

BT has apologised after "many" users in the UK experienced problems recently connecting to the internet, but says the issue has now been resolved.

"In a statement, a BT spokeswoman said: "There were problems with our broadband service earlier today but these have now been solved. We're sorry for any trouble this may have caused."

She said engineers were investigating the cause of the problem but could not say how many users had been affected or whether the outage had affected all of the UK.

BT provides broadband to seven million UK subscribers.

She said some users could not access specific websites, while others could not connect to the internet at all."

When I upgraded to infinity I was using the 3 but the day after the deal was a free 4 so I e mailed them.

Got a snotty response saying I could buy it at a reduced cost to £50 & P&P. 😞

Said I was disappointed and would leave it there.

Next day got a phone call from a Cs Bt Manager.

Due to the time I'd been with them she was sending me one free with free P&P. slight_smile

I don't think I could push my luck to get the 5

Did you use the 4 prior to the 5 and if so any improvements ?

Hi BoB

Yes I had the Hub 4 before the 5. On Bt Broadband I live in a Market 1 area so BT up to 8mb and I got 6.75 to 7mb via wireless most of the time.

On infinity 2 I am getting 75mb to the hub and between 40 and 68mb via wireless. No rhyme nor reason as to why there is a variance but there is.

Can't say I have noticed much difference between the hubs though overall.

"However, the Home Hub 5 is superior to the Home Hub 4 in that it includes AC wireless technology. What's that? Well, essentially, it's the fastest wireless signal you'll get with a home broadband wireless router. It's great for activities that benefit from faster connections, such as streaming video services like Netflix."

I have a white modem on my wall that then hard wires into my home hub 4.

I think the home hub 5 does away with this ?

I am still using the HH3 @Anonymous    A couple of months ago I was considering upgrading to the HH4 but all the advice I was getting at the time seemed to suggest that there would in fact be little added benefit and a number of people had reported dissatisfaction with the HH4.  So ultra-cautious as usual I opted not to change.  We are  not much into streaming lots of films or music and we don't do online games so what we have works well and I must say the HH3 has never given us any problems whatever.
