How to Lengthen Ringtime on any O2 Mobile. This is for all Pay Monthly and Pay and Go mobiles.

The following method will work on any O2 mobile and means you can control the time interval before a call goes to Voicemail.

Important ::

If you have wifi calling enabled, you may need to disable it before you use any of the codes in this guide. You can enable wifi calling again after changing any voicemail settings.

On your keypad, dial 1750 to switch on voicemail.

Enter the following into your keypad as though you were just making a call :

**61*901*11*30# then simply press 'call'.

Please note 30 is the time in seconds before voicemail kicks in and can be set in increments of 5 ie. 05, 10, 15, 20, 25 to a maximum of 30 seconds. (also see video)

This can also be requested via MyO2, App, or Web, following the below instructions ↘️

App

  • Support
  • Phones, SIMS and devices
  • Manage my device
  • From the drop down Manage sim menu select: Bar and divert, from the View menu select: Divert calls
  •  Scroll to the bottom and you have a comprehensive Call Diverts menu to Edit (bottom left)

Web:

Under the MyO2 drop down

  • Under the Your Sim heading select Bar and divert
  • Under the heading Manage your devices and services select Divert calls
  • Scroll down and you have a comprehensive Call Diverts menu to Edit (bottom left)

Alternatively, you can switch voicemail off completely by calling 1760 from your mobile when you know you will be available to answer calls. Switch on again when needed by calling 1750.

and :

Community Guide : Voicemail : All You Need to Know

Just a tip : To avoid charges when travelling overseas switch off voicemail before you go as you may not be able to do so once you have left the UK and the O2 Network. Charges for left messages on aircraft, cruise ships and ferries can be huge.

Great work @jonsie, thanks for taking the time to update this guide!

I've seen it used as part of helping with queries here on the community so thought it would be good if it was in the actual Guides section.

@Ellen you need to ask customer services to turn off wifi calling on your account first before the shortcode will work.

I have been on YouTube. I have been on Google and asking everyone how to extend ring time. Very confused because it didn't work. All I needed was to switch off voicemail. Thank you so much.

Disappointingly this procedure didn't work for me on O2 / iPhone 8 - I got a 'network failure' message.

Hi Jonsie, Wi-fi calling was disabled. Coincidentally I needed to enter into an online Chat with O2 because of another issue (local signal weak, apparently due to maintenance on a nearby transmitter) and I then asked about the process to extend ring time - the agent undertook to "give me a couple of minutes" and then advised that the required extension had been invoked on my iPhone. Hopefully whatever the O2 guru did will have the desired effect, however the process advised on this Community Hub seemed pretty straightforward and successful in most cases - perhaps we'll never know why it failed for me after a few attempts.

Just want to say this neither works on my non O2 Samsung Tablet S7 or S10+. In fact, the only MMI codes which can be used are for getting the status of a specific setting: ie, *#61#.

I have on both devices. In fact this device, my tablet, doesn't even support/have Wi-Fi Calling available and according to CS, there are no plans to include it either.

Taken from a post today elsewhere on the forum, can we add the text below into this guide, please?

"You need to turn off wifi and wifi calling to send mmi short-codes."

@Martin-O2 ?

Unfortunately, none of these solutions work for me but I'm yet to call O2 to disable WiFi calling. All other suggestions don't work on my Samsung Galaxy A70

Using full code

using status code

Screenshot_20220407-093032_Phone.jpg

Phone only ringing for 13-15 seconds and I'm missing calls.

Unfortunately after what I thought was success with extending the ring time on my iPhone 8 the problem seems to have reoccurred which is most frustrating. I shall have to try again to reset the duration of the ring time - could this be due to a software upgrade ? Will the extended ring time still operate if Wi-Fi calling is selected after the extension ?

What a palaver!

On most phones there is Call Divert (otherwise called Call Forwarding) option in Call Settings in Settings on the phone

If busy-if no reply-if not reachable options.

You activate those and in the no reply option you can set the length that way.

This way is much better and provides far better control for Voicemail in my opinion.

😃

@MANSO have you got WiFi calling enabled, by any chance?

You need to turn off wifi and wifi calling on your phone, in MyO2 and on your account (call to O2, the Social Media Team can do this) to send mmi short-codes successfully.

Re-enabling WiFi calling by reversing the steps above should leave your ring time extended.

A palaver, yes - and the guide will be updated to reflect this soon I hope.

How long has this been broken? A year?

O2, why have you still not fixed this?

I found an easy solution for this after spending quite a few hours searching here, Google, phoning support and trying all suggestions, unsuccessfully.

Go to MyO2, App or Web.

App:

> Support

> Phones, SIMS and devices

> Manage my device

> from the drop down Manage sim menu select: Bar and divert, from the View menu select: Divert calls

> Scroll to the bottom and you have a comprehensive Call Diverts menu to Edit (bottom left)

Web:

Under the MyO2 drop down

> under the Your Sim heading select Bar and divert

> under the heading Manage your devices and services select Divert calls

> Scroll down and you have a comprehensive Call Diverts menu to Edit (bottom left)

I changed the DIVERT AFTER setting to 30 sec and a couple of hours later it was working.

I hope this works for everyone.

Hi CraigZ,

i tried what u said but after like 2 hours when i tried to set the "Divert after" to 30 sec, it still shows up like "undefined sec" and i still have 15 seconds of ring time.

Btw, i use a Nokia E72 (yes, i am a nostalgic guy who loves Nokia phones and still does mods for Nokia firmwares) as a business phone (i use O2 for business).

cheers

r0ger.
