sms texts not received abroad qatar

I currently have two phones with o2 one contract and one payg i have had
no problems texting my partner who resides in qatar on his 02 iphone or his other
mobile payg on qtel network. Two days ago he suddenly stopped receiving text messages to his payg phone his iphone has broke so we now rely on that one phone
till he returns to uk to get it fixed. A phone call to o2 the adviser told me it
was his payg phone sim not working he then went out and bought another phone and sim in qatar a four hour drive away. He still cant receive my sms messages on new phone or old one. I spoke to o2 again and told them it must be o2 problem have sent twenty unreceived texts over 48 hours off my two phones not one has been received.
Still being told not o2 problem even after demonstrating that both my daughters one who is on vodaphone the other tescos and his mum on tmobile can send him texts that are received straight away o2 still say its not their problem. I have now been advised to go away and it will probably start working again in a week these things
happen. I asked them to test whether anyones messages are being received in qatar and they cant do it. Oh as a gesture of good will i got 15 minutes free international calls in case i have to contact my partner for emergencies.
Has anyone else encountered these problems with o2?

the problem with roaming is that problems can arrise at any time and yes do tend to sort them selves out.

its hard to beleive that in this day and age we have these issues. But there is no gaurentee that whe you text another country that the person at the other end receives the text.

Its all to do with how networks interchange with each other.

No real answer im affriad on this one.

Lodge a complaint with o2 and ask for one of there tech team to deal with it.

Worth a try

Whilst O2 can guarantee your text leaves their network, they can not guarantee the qtel network can send it on to their phone. It could easily be a qtel problem.

with regard to your above message, i have too found 02 to be a problem recieving texts in qatar, upon investigation it has been found to be caused by a blockage from qtel because i download too much porn using my 02 phone. Hope this helps ####

sorry i forgot to mention, if the qtel mobile has been used for example texting to arrange/ soliciting call girls prostitution etc, qtel will block text messaging and soon will also block voice calls and disable the sim. Hope this helps

Lozzy, Tesco are a virtual network operator on O2. This strongly suggests the problem was with qtel. I suspect that you have fallen foul of the censorship that goes on in those places.
