outgoing calls from USA

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am trying to call home from Boston using a samsung galaxy s3. I can send and recieve texts but not make outgoing calls. The American voice message I get says 'the service you are attempted is restricted or unavailable. Please contact customer care for assistance. Message MA951.'

The phone has automatically connected me to the T-Mobile network. On another thread, someone was successful in making outgoing calls by switching to AT&T - in my case, however, the phone won't connect to At&T. What to do? I would rather not call O2 from my v expensive hotel phone. . .

yes . . . I'm on hold and considering giving up in case it's not free! Will just text and ask to be called back.

It used to be so simple with my blackberry!

If there is the text for a call back option I'd go for it. Just remember there may be a charge for receiving calls that may apply.

Good Luck and let us know how you get on!

Is that O2 or the person you're trying to contact. Don't know of a text number for O2.

There is always @o2 on twitter that may help, but again a looooong wait.

I was hoping Toby or Chiara (Community Managers) would pop up with some more info but saldy not. I have flagged this thread for them to see though so keep checking.

Hi KasiaB,

You can send me a private message if you like and we can talk about other options on top of calling customer service.

Cheers, Toby

Lovely Jubbly. We hopefully have a way forward.

There were other options but I'm not sure O2 would have been happy with me asking you to root your phone and then install an app to make your phone fool google etc!!!
