I have been charged for SMS to android phones from my I phone. I have been told by 02 that I must turn off the I message facility when sending a SMS to an android phone. This can’t be right, how do I know what type of phone has sent the message to me. I have unlimited texts on my plan.
Does anyone know how I can solve this, without keeping I message switched off?
This has only started since I was moved to 02 from Virgin. Perhaps it is time to changed provider!!

You should get inclusive SMS to any UK phone, however if you send them with images, stickers etc then you will be charged for sending an Picture Message..
You dont need to do anything your iPhone will change the message, so leave iMessage on, but be careful what you send,

Thanks for your reply.I know that is how it should work, but if IMessage is on it charges me for a SMS to an android phone, I don’t include pictures or emojis in messages, but 02 don’t seem to be able to sort this out for me, they are not being at all helpful.

Its not o2, as they just charge you based on what is been sent from the device and o2 dont know if its going to an Android, iPhone or Linux phone..
It might be worth contacting Apple and asking them, but the same thing has been reported on EE, Voda and giffgff, and its all been pointed to the phone and the messages been sent..

Make sure you turn off "show subject field"
Settings >Apps >Messages
