O2 only for Europe not for Asia Pacific

Had purchased an O2 XDA Zinc for my wife since I am using the O2 flame and my brother is using the O2 Atom. According to the local Asia service provider, this product can be registered via Internet on the website but after doing so, this is just a false information. Tried to call the O2 customer service but in vain and in the end call the local operator and was given the MWG number. MWG inform that they are supporting the Asia O2 product. Since my wife is facing problem with her O2 Zinc mobile, I had made this discovery informing me that Asia O2 product can only be replaced in Asia Pacific and the warranty will be void if repairs are being made in Europe. Since the mobile is less than a month and since my wife is currently on a 2 weeks vacation in London, she is now having difficulty to get her phone to work as there is no display on the device as well as no sound made when the device receive any calls. This is frustrating and an upset news as I am only able to contact her via email from either her friends or colleaque who is online thru the Internet. I was told that a soft reset had been done but to no avail.

I wonder why O2 is not internationally supported worldwide. Comparing this with my European made bike, I can still get the support even though I am in Asia but my bike is of made Italy. Perhaps mobile and bike doesn't work in a similar way.

Hope that O2 can give more support so as to gain customers trust but yet again is there a mobile phone which is being supported worldwide?

Some countries have differnt warranties for there items.

I travel abroad and purchase items from varius of countries.

I have recently purhcased a cd player in the usa (popular make) and the warranty states that the product has us and canada warranty only.

I have recently purchased a laptop in the uk and it says on my warranty certificate that i have full eu warranty only.

Warranty is company dependent and varies from one country to another.

The reason for this is if you purchase a make of mobile phone in one country and the country you visit doesnt sell that make or model. Then general obtaining spares is impossible as they wouldnt be on there ordering books.

Ive seen this happen many times on other products.

When ever you are purchasing any electrical item or any item in fact and you are going to be using it for a while in another country, you are always best to check what warranty that product comes with and if its onlu eu cover, country cover or world wide cover.

I hope this helps and answers your question
