Solved: Samsung Galaxy S3 virus??

Hi all I wonder if you are able to help please. I am not very technical at all and have just got my phone. Every time I go into the phone after swiping it to unlock instead of the home screen I get 'Google' coming up with a search bar, the local weather and a note at the bottom of the screen saying 'show more cards'.....Is this normal? Its so annoying, do you know how I can get rid of it please?

That is called "Google Now".

At a rough guess you have the google search bar on your homescreen and you are accidentally pressing this when you unlock the phone.

Touch and hold the search bar and you will see a delete trash bin at the top of the screen. Keep your finger down and drag it to the trash
