Galaxy S3 turning itself off and on?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Only had the S3 for a few days, first the firmware crashed during an update, now i dont know if i have a problem or its a feature of the phone ?

Basically, every so often the phone turns itself off? Some times it will start back up again itself (samsung screen then 02 screen ect.) but other times i have to press the power button to turn it back on.It starts up really quickly though, again i dont know if its a feature like sleep mode or something or a genuine fault?  I cant find anything in the menus for a sleep mode or describing the fault im having. Didnt receive a manual or anything due to it being a refurb from o2.

MI5 to the rescue again here? lol. slight_smile

Worse than ever after the reset lol. Also the battery life has suddely taken a dive (100% to 30% in 4 hours with very minor use)

On the upside though, phoned o2 and a replacement will be here tomorrow slight_smile

Hi again wink

Since we updated the firmware, remind me, did we do a factory reset immediately afterwards?

Also, let me know what apps you have installed pls.

Open up Kies and connect phone. Go to the backup/restore tab and select the items you want to back up (the less you choose the faster it will be). Once complete disconnect the phone, shut it down, remove/replace the battery then hold Vol Up + Home + Power until you see the Samsung splash screen, then let go of the buttons. Wait for recovery mode to load up then use vol down to select clear all data/reset and press power key. Scroll down to Yes then power key again. Once the reset is complete choose the reboot now option. Set the phone language on restart and enter your wifi and Google account details. If you have backed up to Google your apps should auto install, then when it's done reconnect to Kies and restore your backup. If you still get shutdowns after this I would think about taking the phone back for a replacement as it shouldn't keep going wrong on you like this.
