When taking a new contract when does the first payment get taken?

Im wanting to take out a new contract but I was just wondering in general when does the first payment leave your account? Is it the same for all phone companies or does it vary? The tariff im looking at is £29 a month with Three (via carphone warehouse) + the handset is free.

Three generate a first bill about a week (up to 9 days) after connection. This bill covers the period from the start of service until the bill date and the following month in advance. Details HERE. This is fairly standard practice from most of the networks I think

Although like the others I'm not sure why you are asking this on an O2 forum but hey

You will normally get a bill after a few days with the money being taken about 2 weeks later after that it will be every month

Probably best to ask Three that question......
