How to upgrade to SIM only after 2 year contract is up

Hi, I know this has probably been asked a thousand times but I can't find a clear answer. My contract is up next month and I want to keep my phone and stay on the tariff I'm on at the moment. Do I need to do anything? I don't think I'm on o2 refresh - I can't see it mentioned anywhere on my bills - does that mean my bill won't reduce in price? I've always upgraded at the end of each contract but nothing is catching my eye this time around so I'm a bit stumped as to what I need to do.

Where did you take out your current contract @hatthewmartley ?
If direct with o2, then you should see a device plan and an air time section on your bill.

If not, and there is just 1 line, then you will be on a single payment to cover both.

If you have a device plan then once that is paid you will move onto an air time only payment - and there may be tariffs that are cheaper or more suitable to you now.

If a single payment then it will NOT reduce, and you will need to "upgrade" to a sim only plan to change your monthly payments.

Guide: How does O2 Refresh work?

Thank you @gmarkj, that's what I suspected. I got the contract through buymobiles. I can't seem to find an option online to upgrade to SIM only. I'm not the most tech-savvy person. Am I best just ringing them up?

You might not be able to yet if you are not due to upgrade until next month @hatthewmartley

Most of the community use USwitch as they tend to have better deals - as you follow the steps on there it asks if you are upgrading and then sends you to the o2 website to log in and continue the process.
