I borrowed ann iphone 3 and went to use the nano sim adapter that came with the iphone 5 to use my card in the 3g and it wont read the card? Anyone else have this problem?

Sometimes sim adapters can be tricky to seat in the tray. Either try again or pick up a blank account specific blank SIM card and let the staff sim swap for you to the sim the borrowed iPhone takes.

It sounds like the water ingression has fried the phones internals.

Check your household or bank account for any cover.

I dont think the 5 is totally unsalvageable. Any info i have come up with on this error is it can be caused without any water damage by faulty flex or camera sensor.

I still cant figure out why the adapter wont read my sim in the 3.

As said you could replace the sim by visiting your O2 store.

Water ingression will lead to failures. Oxidation occurs and mould grows.

Apple won't look at it under any warranty and any insurance would need to include liquid damage cover.

A stand alone shop may have a peek for you. This would void any further warranty also.

I suspect your sim may be damaged as well maybe that's why it can't read it

Yes sometimes the phone continues for a while. Sometimes for quite a while in some cases.

However the damage is done even if you didn't turn it on and used the rice method.

You could always take the iphone 5 to apple for an out of warranty replacement
