Contacts lost

Hi, not sure if anyone can help? My partners phone suddenley went blank and now he is unable to do anything with it, took it to the apple shop who said that they were unable to help as it appeared locked. We have lost loads of memory pictures and phone numbers. Is there anything we can do?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Define what they meant by locked ?

Do you back up to iTunes and or iCloud ?

Do you use GMail as contacts could be backed up to that.

I'm sure you've tried this Try a reset of your iPhone by ;

Holding the Top Sleep/Wake Button and Home Button until the Apple Logo appears, and then let go of both. Your iPhone will reset.

Look at Recovery Mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

And Dfu mode http://m.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034

If Apple can't help it's probably a lost cause - I'm not sure what has happened but it's not sounding like very good news 😞
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Very strange to hear that Apple said they couldn't help without offering any solution. Never heard that before.

Also strange that the Apple store didn't ask the OP if they had their photos and contacts backed up anywhere.

There is no point speculating - we will all just have to wait for the OP to return and hopefully shed some light to this issue and answer the questions that have been asked slight_smile

As it was over 36 hours since the OP posted, they probably wont be back at all. I would surmise the issue is now fixed....
