iPhone6 contract prices are insane - why would you get a contract phone any more?!?

Simple really:

Looking at a 64gb 4.7 incher:

Compare the price of an unlocked phone from the Apple store with a decent sim-only contract, versus a £48/mth O2 contract with £100 up-front, and the former comes out at at least £150 cheaper over the 2 years.

Am I missing something??!?

And whilst I am on the subject, my IPhone 5 contract 2 years back cost me £26/mth including the phone - 85% inflation over 2 years.  I know all the networks are priced the same, but how is this justified?

Some buy outright from Apple and get a sim only deal or payg.

At the end kf the day it's what suites the individual and disposable income.

Because the network is subsidising your purchase so you don't have to lay all the money out at once. And for that privilege, you pay more. They're in the business to make money. They're not your friend.

Go with whatever makes you feel most comfortable and what you can justify to yourself.

It will always work out better to buy outright and sim free, but most people don't have the disposable income to splash out £800 for a new phone. It's great if you can, but for some it's just not an option.
