Big bundle

Can anyone clarify something for me please?
I just bought an o2 pay as you go sim card and topped up. I got a congratulatory text which said I now have a big bundle and that my £10 has been taken (for it).

Downloaded the app and was exploring to see if I can get specific top ups (more Internet for example) and i read that on my "anniversary" of topping up o2 will automatically try to take another £10 out of my bank account to continue the bundle.
I was under the impression that a pay as you go service means that *I* decide if and when to top up.
Can someone explain to me if o2 will now charge me automatically whether I want them to or not (the other network i am with just reminds me that I'm out of credit and will only charge if I don't top up yet continue to use data).

Hope that makes sense and hope to get a reply slight_smile

Ah.. Thank you all very much for the clarification. The setup on another network was slightly different - the credit i top up gets used when I call or text and i can use it to buy Internet.

Your answers have encouraged me to give this network a try and see how it goes. Thank you all again.

Only if you have set auto top ups, otherwise just top up when you want although when you do the money will be taken for the bundle allowances.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

You won't be charged. That only applies to auto top up. Once your big bundle has expired you can still receive calls, they won't attempt to take money from your account.

Your allowances last only for a month and don't rollover.

If you don't top up on or before your anniversary date you won't get your new bundles of allowances and go into standard charges plus web daily which is £1 per day for 50mb of data use.

If you top up after your anniversary date you'll then get the allowances and a new anniversary date.

Money is only taken from your bank account if you've set up auto top up.

O2 send you a text message to remind you that you need to top up by your anniversary date to get your next set of allowances.

That option is available on O2's sister company, giffgaff, if you prefer it.
