I made a post on reddit so you can see the full conversation I've had with O2 recycle support.
https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinfuriating/s/PvV0aaARMt

The short version is, I was given false info in store when handing my phone for recycling. I contacted support later that day, when I noticed the discrepancy and when it became clear there was a mistake, I requested my phone be returned to me.

They hadnt even received my phone at this point and on the 7th, they assured me they would return it.
Time goes by and I ask for an update. They tell me they dispatched the phone on the 13th… more time goes by and it turns out they actually destroyed the phone on the 10th.
Now they are refusing to do anything about it and have a general attitude of not actually caring about anything. Its all just “regrettable” to them but though luck for me.

Any advice?

A complaint is about the limit of advice we can give from here:

Use Resolver https://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
