Hey guys,

Due to this winter being one of the warmest on record the UK slug population didn't enter the usual hibernation phase. This means they have continued to eat and breed over the winter months when they would normally be hibernating.

As a result the UK slug population is predicted to increase by up to 10% this summer.

Several tips to prevent slugs eating your plants can be found in this article

Are there any keen gardeners out there? If so have to had slug problems in the past?

I am a keen gardener. Slugs are the bane of my life. I have tried everything to get rid of them so will read that arrticle and see if it shows me anything new. Trouble is when you have cats there are a few things you can't use.... Oh...and as much as I like pictures @Martin-O2.. was there any need to show me a slug? Happy Dance Yuck....

We were overrun with them last year. Thank god I won't have to worry about them this year!

Tried everything in that article except this....

Nematode worms - which kill slugs by feeding off them parasitically - can be bought online introduced to soil where slug numbers are high

Not sure I am going to be buying nematode worms online...Fear

@Cleoriff Let me know if the nematode worms have any effect. That was the best slug pic I could find wink

@jonsie Looks like its going to be even worse this year so you lucked out!

Great! Introduce worms in vast quantities to the soil and they burrow under the lawn and ruin it by popping up for a slug banquet....

I know worms are good for the soil but didn't realise they could damage the lawn.

Not an issue for me my garden has returned to nature for the time being. The cats love it but I plan on getting it sorted this summer.
