Hi guys, happy Monday!
Today is United Nations Day. Due to the great work of the UN, there's some amazing rights that people can now enjoy around the world. A recent example is a basic human right to internet access! Today celebrates the foundation of this great organization.
Any of you celebrating this in any way yourselves, or have noticed any buildings/bridges or other things being lit up in blue in your area? Some cities do things like that today.

For one month there is no music or dancing in the bars and clubs. You can still drink but in clubs you pay double the price for the dancing and music. This must be really hitting their profits. The period of mourning is actually a full year where most Thai people are supposed to wear black, though white is acceptable.
We went to the Golden Palace Temple and Golden Buddha in Bankok on Friday and Saturday. There were literally hundreds of thousands of people there. There were well over 1000 vendors giving food, drinks, Royal momentoes, umbrellas for protection against the sun and all paid for by the royal family. There were so many there that at one point you just couldn't move. I feel quite privileged to have witnessed it.
......and I was on TV in BKK as we were both interviewed together as contrasts for what it meant from a Thai viewpoint and for foreign visitors. We were recognised in the hotel that night after the TV show (all hotels were half-price and will be for the whole month)

Sad for Thailand but I ask Mauy why she can pit DJ Domination CD on at full blast in the car when music is a no-no? Oh in the car is different says she. WHAT?
