Fake HMRC text messages

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi Everybody,

If anyone gets a text from HMRC saying they are entitled to a tax refund with a link to follow please, please, please DO NOT follow the link it asks for bank, card & security details so they can access your bank account. It is totally bogus & is not from HMRC at all. After having spoken to them I was reassured that they DO NOT contact you in this way at all.

So please beware of this text!!!!

I would never do any of the above anyway, with ANY email / text.
Just common sense surely.

it still baffles me why anyone would enter these details based on a text or email

Agree with that.....I view everything as suspicious....unless I know the sender....and even then...
