Damn, 30 years..
I remember this even though I was only 5 at the time.
A lot of very horrific facts surround that brave crew.

I remember that day so well and the terrible and awful sinking feeling as we watched it repeatedly on tv. All the technology that went into those flights and the tragedy came down to the weather and it's effect on the rubber sealing rings if I recall correctly.

It was shocking to see 😞

Yes I believe so, a rubber lower seal ring on the solid rocket booster started to fail on throttle up.

I remember it very well. Despite all the safety measures they have since put in place it is the main thing that goes through my mind at any (and every) other space launch. slight_frown

One of those memories that lives on forever I think...

I can't remember whether I watched it live or whether on the news. I just remember the incredible sadness that was quite overwhelming. The whole world I think was shocked at the awful footage.

I watched it live. I always tried to arrange to be off duty at every televised launch.

It was before my time, but a tragedy that we were all taught about in school. Seeing the spectators watching it live was harrowing.

It must have been hard to see live @MI5 and @jonsie 😞
