Something I'll never forget Toby,
It's one of 2 events that really stick in my mind from Childhood. The other was Niki Lauda crashing at Nurburgring in 1976 and getting almost burnt to death 😞

It's definitely one of my most vivid early memories.
I think I watched live.

Sorry to hear it @viridis

Thanks for posting @Bambino. A sad subject, but a poignant one.

I think this is likely where I saw it.

It happened at 16:39 and newsround used to go out at ten to 5.

I think the special report had most of the footage In.

Thinking about it CNN were the only TV programme to broadcast it live as it happened

It must have been linked up to one of our major news channels...on(or just after) the event.

Newsround went out first I believe, and if I remeber correctly showed the footage from launch to after the actual break up.
Did your kids not used to watch Philip schofield in the broom cupboard? If they did, that's probably where.

It was more likely to be me watching Philip Schofield .....:smileywink:....

Reaching back into my memory now but I am certain that the original launch for Challenger was planned to take place days earlier at KSC.... but various weather conditions and other problems delayed it by a week?

I was in Los Angeles at the time. O rings. Morton Thiokol - The company that made them. The risks that shouldn't have been taken. Just to try and save money. Tragic.

Without giving my age away I can remember that too. 30 years have flown by.
