I think this is likely where I saw it.
It happened at 16:39 and newsround used to go out at ten to 5.
I think the special report had most of the footage In.

Thinking about it CNN were the only TV programme to broadcast it live as it happened
It must have been linked up to one of our major news channels...on(or just after) the event.

Reaching back into my memory now but I am certain that the original launch for Challenger was planned to take place days earlier at KSC.... but various weather conditions and other problems delayed it by a week?
