Have received SIM but there is no temporary number attached.

I have purchased a new phone from MobilePhonesDirect with O2 SIM (contract start date 30/03/2024). I want to keep my previous EE number and provided MobilePhonesDirect with a PAC and they sent this to O2. I have received the phone and O2 SIM, but the SIM has no temporary number attached and is therefore useless. O2 still have not actioned the PAC which has now expired and I still do not have use of my new phone. Fortunately EE have not terminated my old number, as I am 84 years old and this is my only means of contact. I have now obtained a new PAC and visited an O2 shop to seek advice but they were unable to help without a temporary number. So can I get a temporary number, if so how, and how do I provide the new PAC to O2 without a temporary number?
