why is it every month i get the same problem plus an additional one with o2 and i can never get a person with one brain cell to sort things for me!

As frustrating as it is, I can assure you every network suffers issues.

The obvious thing affecting networks at the minute is the rollout of 4G and the enhancement of the networks in parallel.

Hang in there, but as the others have said do let us know what issues you are facing - as we have probably suffered something similar so can point you in the right direction.
