Xperia Z3 5.0.2 lollipop begins rollout.

So far has hit nordic areas and will take a few weeks to rollout everywhere.
Of course, network firmwares will take as long as it takes the networks to test and ok to sony

Would it be worth updating with this version as the stories about lollipop are not very encouraging

I "think" it is regional, and within the regions it is just pot luck which is first.
But network firmware is available as soon as the network ok's it, which is why o2uk firmware has been available before UK generic in the past, only @Chris_K can find out if o2 have had their for testing

I think 5.0.2 will be fine to update to. I have a Nexus 5 and am running 5.0.1 with no problems. Just waiting for 5.1 to arrive OTA, which will be fairly soon I think. They haven't got to my build number yet, but I think it might be some time this week.

I'm running 5.0.2 on both a Nexus 7 and a Samsung S3 and both are fine. To be honest I preferred KK for looks but I have found that both seem faster and benefit from improved battery after a few charge cycles. Took a little getting used to and looking forward to 5.1
