Can I request phone recordings?

Hi all.

I am currently having a dispute over a car I bought from a dealer, and I am considering taking them to the Small Claims Court. Would it be possible to request the actual recordings from the calls I have made to the dealer, which may help my case in court?

Thank you.

O2 don't record your calls I'm sorry to say.

Not from O2. They don't record your calls. If the dealers records their calls you can request a DSAR.

If the garage did record their calls, they would have to had informed you at the time you were on the call.
I think it's very unlikely that they would record calls though.

If the dealer has an email address you could raise your dispute using that medium. If they reply with the same responses you had over your phone calls, you then have it all in writing.

Having spent half my life working for main dealers in the motor trade, I can confirm that not one of them have ever recorded calls so unless you do as @Bambino mentions, you are out of luck I'm afraid.

Not record calls??...What a surprise..NOT. I can only imagine most of the calls would get deleted for obvious reasons.....

Hi @Jake2014 There are some apps available in case you wanted to record any future conversations but I believe most of them will only record your end of the conversation which would probably sound a bit strange when played back !

It is also illegal unless you tell the other party and they agree to it.
