Phoning abroad

Hi

Can anyone help me please? I am going on holiday to America next month and once I have landed and got through customs I need to phone my friend's cell phone so she can pick me up. Is there a code I have to put before the number? Thank you in advance.

I would actually get the number in your contact list before you go to avoid any issues. There shouldn't be ...though I have had a problem once before when tried to direct dial a friends number in Spain. I kept being advised it wasn't registered. Once I added it to my contact list it connected immediately. I have absolutely no idea why that happened ...but there you go...
