Iphone 6 cost

I was wondering why 64gb iphone 6 would cost me £719 from O2 yet it's only £619 direct from apple store. Is it a typo or are O2 trying to rip people off?

I prefer contract for my main phone so I don't have to bother worrying about topping up or auto top ups failing etc, but I do also run other PAYG accounts that are lesser used.
They both have pro's and con's depending on your needs and usage patterns......

I've just had a prolonged livechat with the upgrade team regarding this issue (wish I'd thought of posting here first). I've been a customer of O2 since the beginning, and BT Cellnet before that, and (wrongly) assumed that the pricing would work roughly as it did with past iPhone launches. I want to purchase 2 iphone 6 128Gb outright and pay for monthly contracts as I did with both our iPhone 5s. However, I'm not prepared to pay £789 for each handset when the RRP for the handset is £699. So I thought to ask how to subscribe to a 20Gb 4G data tariff with unlimited texts/minutes but apparently that isn't available.

Feeling a little frustrated. I don't want to change networks, but am not seeing a way past this at the moment. We're currently on pay monthly with unlimited texts and minutes. Rationale is that we like to pay the handset cost up front to minimise the monthly outlay - you never know what's around the corner and I consider 24 months a long time to be committed to paying a phone plan in addition to an airtime contract.

Put them as a pay monthly plan and immediately pay off the handset, no where near 789

It's a pity that the 20gb is only available on offer when taking out a refresh contract and whether it will be a stand alone option further down the line is anyone's guess so purchasing elsewhere is really an unknown variable.

I agree, that's the best idea.
Take the £48 (?) tariff with the £129.99 upfront (cheapest overall costs) and immediately invoke the refresh privilege to pay off the handset cost. You then own the handset and don't pay anything for it monthly, you just pay the airtime cost until you choose to stop.
