You can do it if you have some Samsung phones. There are Android apps that purport to let you block, but I'm not sure if any really do work. Alternatively, O2 will give you one free change of phone number.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

There are options which you can download such as AVG from the playstore if your using an android phone etc.

 

O2 will also change your phone number once for free as Bambino says.

When in the call / message screen, press and hold the contacts name until a sub menu appears, from there, press the reject / block caller, or the spam sender (or something similar) if on the messaging section.
