I'v been looking at the Samsung A50 but do I need to buy it from o2 for the WiFi calling to work or can I buy elsewhere as long as it is UK version.

Your help is much appreciated.

@Redrooster According to this, only those marked with an asterix require O2 firmware.

Wifi and 4G Calling is currently available on the following devices:

  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11Pro Max, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone X, iPhone Xr, iPhone 8 Plus, 8, 7 Plus, 7, 6s Plus, 6s, 6 Plus, 6, SE
  • Samsung Galaxy A51, A71, S10 Lite, Galaxy Z Flip, S20, S20 Plus, S20 Ultra, S10 5G, Note10, Note10 Plus 5G, S10, S10e, S10 Plus, S9, S9 Plus, S8, S8 Plus, Note8, S7*, S7 edge* and J3 2017*, A10, A20e, A50, A70, A8, A3 2017, A6, J6, J5 (2017), A5 (2017), Note9, A7, J6+, J4+, A9, A90 5G, A40, Xcover 4S,

@Redrooster

As far as I am aware Wifi Calling only works on phones which have O2 firmware installed.

That was the situation 18 months ago, see here https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Business-Customers/WIFI-Calling/td-p/1163249

Unless it's changed since then and I am unaware?

@Redrooster  As the A50 is asterix free, then that should be ok. Thanks for that update @MI5
