Poor to no signal & not connected to network messages

I upgraded my Samsung at the beginning of august in favour of the S4. I had all the checks done for signal strength and 4g coverage and was assured the phone would work fine and that my area was covered. But from home in approx 15 mile circle I can not get a signal good enough to make a call, even when I have a bar or two I get a message stating not registered on network! I'm paying over £38 a month for a phone I can only use in London. I've tried resetting both soft and hard, another 4g phone a 3g phone (my old s3), tried cleaning the sim, had a replacement sim etc etc. Today i thought i would check the signal strengths again and hey presto o2 coverage in this area is restricted to 2g phones, which have full signal. I rung customer services who promptly told me there is no issue with the phone or area signal and that unless they get complaints from other o2 users they can not do any thing. I have a 24 month contract and have been with o2 for over 10 years, to say I am disgusted is an understatement. So what do i do now? Take them to court for compensation? God forbid my car breaks down as its a long walk between villages.

Hi.

You can escalate your issue to a complaint but they do have this set out in their t&c that their network is not fault free and not all will get cover.

Here is the link if you wish to use it.

http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/srvs/cgi-bin/webcgi.exe?New,KB=Companion,question=ref%28user%29:str%28Rel...

O2 are continually improving the network due to the 4g rollout which should improve both 3G and 2g

If you are a business customer you can speak to 02 about a boost box.

Other options such as Tugo , viber or whatsapp may be of interest.

Not the best solution I submit.

Hope things improve for you.

You should be able to switch your phone to 2G only to enable calls in and out.
I can't comment on the last part of your post but hope you get sorted out.....
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Have to say that the s3 worked fine and i haven't moved. Seems to me like the s4 is rubbish yet i still have to pay for a phone i can not use. So therefore the fault does lay with o2.

There is no fault if you have taken out a new contract, you had a minimum period during which you could have cancelled.

If you have gone beyond that you are liable for the cost of the entire contract.

You said you had a good 2G connection, so why on earth did you take out a 4G contract?
