Last week I upgraded my iphone 4 to 5s, and all has transferred fine apart from mobile data. I have made the changes required in settings, rebooted and still get message 'could not activate data network you are not subscribed to a mobile data service' Any suggestions?

I'd try resetting the network settings first and then reboot the phone.
Is iMessage working at all ?

What are your apn settings?
Have you switched to an iData tariff?

APN payandgo.o2.co.uk. Have old pay and go tariff which gave me free data each month when I top up and worked fine until changed phone

Yes new sim and swap fine. I have 'text and web' tariff with 500mb unused this month, no bolt ons
