I live in a village on the Irish border where I’m constantly switching between ROI network and Uk network. I currently don’t have wifi in my apartment and I’m using a lot of data so I bought the £30 rolling bundle which gives me 150gb, however I’m getting close to the fair use roaming limit which is 25gb and will be charged the standard rate when it runs out. Which I’ve unfortunately discovered would cost me £30 a day, ridiculous. Surely fair use of roaming shouldn’t apply to ROI?

You need to manually select a UK network so your phone doesn't roam on EU networks.

The limits apply to any roaming scenario.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

I manually select my data atleast 10 times a day, but there are certain areas where you can only get southern network and other areas where you can get UK network.

It might be worth getting an ROI PrePay sim card from the likes of Eir , and then getting a dual sim phone. As then you will save on the UK data costs.

The only network that offers usage across both is EE , as Vodafone and 3 are now less than 25Gb

The Irish networks are exactly the same now, and restrict roaming into NI

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

@Dara

Try different UK networks by testing with PAYG sim cards and you might find one that gives you full UK coverage.

Ireland and Northern Ireland roaming is as pre-2021.

And O2 UK has renewed its commitment to free, up to 25GB data, in its Europe Zone, including Ireland.
