Nokia Lumia 520 Windows Phone. O2 wi-fi app impossible to get.

Hi,

Just got my Nokia Lumia 520 Windows Phone with O2.

I do not use data only wi-fi and was pleased that there was an app to help me find hotspots.

Tried to locate the app for install only to find out the app was only available via itunes or Google Play.

Both itunes and Google Play are not available on the 520.

itunes will not download as phone does not support that kind of file.

Google Play is also impossible to get as it will not install on a windows phone.

Phoned a O2 Guru for help and was told that the app is available on the phones 'Store'

Been looking for it for over an hour but still not find it anywhere on the phone.

Any advice on how to find O2 hotspots without hold the phone and checking the settings for wi-fi connections?

If you go into the Windows Phone Store and search for an app called "My Network", this will do exactly what you want.

My Network is an O2 app and it will show you coverage maps for 2G,3G and 4G for your current location as well as showing you where all O2 Wifi hotspots are.

This is a proper Windows phone app and not just a link to a mobile web page so it's definately one to install if you use O2 Wifi a lot.

Hi

Won't your phone just seek out a wifi connection when you enable the wifi setting.

For example I could use Bt Wifi but don't need to use it as my iPhone latches onto the strongest wifi connection available.

Use this web page in your browser for now.
Click the WiFi option to show hotspots nearby....

We're still missing a few O2 apps on Windows Phone, but fortunately this one was released recently.  It's called My Network and shows you where all the O2 Wifi hotspots are.

Hi Bob, that's correct.

Once you've registered and connected to your first O2 Wifi hotspot, Windows Phone will automatically connect to all subsequent O2 Wifi hotspots when it sees them (assuming you have WiFi turned on).
