Are you sure the battery is in properly and the correct way round?

No doubt you've checked but are the battery contacts against the phone ones?

Hi.

If the battery is fitted properly and if you can get another battery try that one and if no hell ,then you could try soft resetting it or last resort hard resetting the phone (make a back up as this typically deleted data)

http://project-dna.org/how-to-hard-reset-the-nokia-lumia-520-and-720-windows-phone-8/

If no help then return the phone to the shop for them to swap it out if applicable ,or send it off for repair using a Nokia Repair Centre or o2 Repairs.

Nokia Link.

Hope all goes well for you.
