What's the difference between me buying a phone from o2, or buying a phone on an o2 contract from somewhere like phones4u?

Price aside, handsets from CPW/phones4u etc. are unbranded, so no network provider bloatware and you usually get software updates as soon as the manufacturers release them - win-win situation
