Inaccurate Voice Call Coverage Information

Anonymous
Not applicable

I live in Stratford upon Avon at post code CV37 7DU. Your site shows that there is good coverage indoors and outdoors here. In reality there is no coverage indoors other than 1 bar in an upstairs bedroom and little coverage out of doors. It has been like this for a very long time and therefore the information you are providing at best is an error. At worst it's a misrepresentation!

Hi  @Anonymous

We are all customers here like you.

The coverage checker is only ever a guide and coverage can not be guaranteed even when the phone has a good signal as the masts can get congested at times.

If you have a Smartphone then download the My Network app, it's available for Android, iPhone and Windows Phone, and use that to feedback about your issue.

Otherwise follow the advice others have given above.

It should only be considered as a "guide" and is not a replacement for actually trying a sim card to determine the level of service offered.
Ofcom have made networks (O2 included) be more accurate in certain cases but in general they are just an indication.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Additionally, I have just checked your postcode and it is only showing full signal bars for 2G.
You are likely to get better reception by turning off 3G on your phone when at home if possible.

Hi @Anonymous and Welcome to the forum.

Here is an interesting help post http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Do-you-have-poor-coverage-signal-Indoors-This-may-help-Explain/m-p/382428

If you are a pay monthly customer with home broadband and wifi perhaps look at alternatives such as using o2's Tugo in the interim.

Or WhatsApp and Viber or Facebook which need the other party to have downloaded too.
O2 have a Network Future plan but has a 2017 date which for someone with issues now can be frustrating.

Hi @Anonymous

Thank you for your post. Fyi this has been to the Ombudsman Service and the Advertising Standards Authority and it also went on to an appeal.

The Ombudsman ruled (and this was confirmed on the appeal) that further down the page the o2 coverage checker makes clear that the checker provides OUTDOOR coverage indication only, that it is CLEAR what the limitations are, and that perspective o2 customers would know what they are buying in to.

Whilst I do not agree with the outcome, that was as far as an appeal to the Ombudsman could go.

So there you have it. At the top of the page it says good indoor and outdoor. Half way down it corrects that information but according to The Ombudsman Service and the Advertising Standards Authority that is reasonable.
