Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can help.
I am looking to reinstate a phone number that hasn’t been used in 4+ years. I was originally told I could pay to get this number back, then was told I didn’t need to pay I just had to swap it to a new sim which I spoke to someone at o2 on Thursday and supposedly they filled in the forms but nothing has happened. I phoned back yesterday to be told this can’t be done.
So 3 different people have told me different things.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

This is not O2, @Ferguson - you will have to persist with O2, Social Media is the easiest way, link below has the ways - nudge until they respond, may take a couple of days.

Otherwise Guide: How to find help & contact O2

Good luck!

Over 4 years is pushing it. I would not pay anything or take out a SIM on the promise this would happen.

What happens if you ring the number?

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

When I call it. It says “the number you have called has not been recognised”

@Ferguson Then we can assume it is in the pool for reissue.

I take it then the number was issued new by O2 and not ported in from another network

Yes I am sure it was an original O2 number.

I asked on O2 instagram and they said

“Hi, we're sorry to hear that. If your mobile number has been disconnected for 4 years, we're unable to reinstate it.”

If O2 have said that to you @Ferguson, I am not sure that there is anything further that you can do ; someone else will post if they have any further ideas. 👍
