One of the many questions on here is about PAC or PUK codes, but there is a lot of confusion over which code is actually needed.

We get a number of questions about how discounts are applied to O2 tariffs and why it appears not to be added to the account.

In order to help, I've created a small guide.

I posted quite extensively on a recent thread about credit files and realised that there were quite a few misconceptions, so thought a bit of a mini guide about O2 and your credit files may help fill in some blanks, and also provide a resource to help other customers in the future.

Some of this is about credit files in general, and some specific to O2, although it all ties in together.

Obtaining an O2 PAC Code.


If you wish to move mobile networks and keep your mobile number, you will need a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) which is normally 9 characters long and in the format "ABC123456").

They are used by UK Mobile Networks to facilitate mobile number portability (MNP).
