You need to do a sim swap.

If you have taken a new contract you will need to migrate your number Guide: Migration & porting into O2  

A sim swap will put your old tariff to a new contract which will result in cancellation of the new contract and full costs will need to be paid.

If it's just a simple new sim on an old contract then a sim swap is fine.

Or if you have upgraded from an old contract with O2 to a new contract, just pop your old sim in your new phone. 😉
