Hi.  I sent my daughter a text today to her usual number.  She replied a few minutes later but the number was a completely different number!  I called her on her usual number and she answered but when she sent me a text again it came from the different number.  Very confused! Can anyone help please? Thank you.

Your daughter needs to update the number in the handset settings, as she has probably ported the number across to a new network.  And the phone hasn't been updated from the temporary number.

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

If it's an iPhone you need to go to Settings >Phone >My Number

If an Android it's under advanced message settings >RCS in the message app.

I’ve tried doing this with my phone as same issue and it won’t save… just keeps going back to SIM phone number though my old phone number has transferred across.

@Newphone123

Get a new blank sim from O2 and do a sim swap Guide: Sim Swap: a mini guide 2017 update

You will then be able to save your number to the phone.
