If it doesn't fit ask for a replacement.

@MaxineMilligan If your old phone was 4G and you're in a 5G area or frequent 5G areas you might want use the new sim that probably came with your new phone. You can swap it yourself if you follow this guide: 

SIM Swap: a mini guide (incl eSim) - O2 Community.

If you're not comfortable doing the swap yourself, call into an O2 store, if you have one nearby, and they'll do it for you. Be sure to bring photo ID with you.
