Issues with iMessage & FaceTime

I recently switched from Vodaphone to o2. I have an unlocked iPhone 14 pro.

I moved my old number at the same time.

However in Settings>Phone>My Number the temporary number shows and it will not allow me to save my old number. When press save, the temporary number appears again.

For both iMessage and FaceTime I have a message that my old number is registered to my Apple ID but is not associated with this phone. I can keep using the number for iMessage and FaceTime until it expires (23 days)

I've restarted the phone many times and also logged out and back in to my Apple ID.

My phone appears to not recognise the old number, despite it working otherwise OK.

Any suggestions please?

First thing is to reset your network settings.

If that doesn't help, get a new blank sim from O2 and do a sim swap Guide: Sim Swap: a mini guide 2017 update

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

@MI5

Many thanks for the swift reply.I backed up my phone first and reset the network settings.

After restarting and checking Settings>Phone>My Number and my old number was now showing.

I still had the message that my old number is registered to my Apple ID but is not associated with this phone. I can keep using the number for iMessage and FaceTime until it expires (23 days). I removed the number and added it again and the warning has now gone.

So hopefully all seems to be well. Thank you very much indeed. Appreciated!
